Dieter Feldmann from the Bavarian town of Abensberg is one of the few remaining masters of the art of gold-plating. In his workshop, he gilds everything from religious sculptures to fountain pens to a guitar owned by the hit band, the Scorpions. Even though business is booming, gold-plating is a dying art. In Germany, only five trainees learn the craft each year.
