For the first time, a radical Islamic group in Germany has issued a death threat against a renowned German scholar of Islam, according to Report Mainz, a German television news magazine. The threat, made on a German language Islamic internet site, www.muslim-markt.de, is against author and scholar, Hans-Peter Raddatz. The threat, made on Sept. 9, urges "punishment" against Raddatz for spreading "untruths" about Islam. The website is run by Yavuz Özogus, an engineer at the University of Bremen. German officials have long regarded the professor as an Islamic fundamentalist with ties to terrorist organizations. Meanwhile, prosecutors in Oldenburg are investigating the current threat.
