Here in Germany, the SPD and the conservatives have traditionally had very differrent views on immigration. Which makes it all the more interesting that they BOTH have rejected the Blue Card idea. Both parties say domestic unemployment is still far too high, with 3.7 million currently out of work. But firms here ARE hiring - in fact, most complain about a lack of qualified German workers. So some have started recruiting foreign students attending university in Germany. But if you think having a job offer, and a top university degree are enough to allow you to stay in this country, think again.
