Turkish Paper Threatens German MP

A Turkish-language paper has reportedly issued a threat against a German parliamentarian after the woman filed a criminal complaint against the publication for allegedly denying the Holocaust. "There was no Holocaust," Vakit newspaper from Mörfelden-Walldorf near Frankfurt wrote in its Dec. 1 issue, according to Kristina Köhler, a member of the Christian Democratic Union. "The gas chambers are a lie as well." Köhler filed a complaint for incitement of the masses as denying the Holocaust is a crime in Germany. In response, Vakit published Köhler's picture and claimed that she wanted to ban all Turkish papers in Germany. "You'll hurt this woman's nerves so that she becomes sick," the paper allegedly wrote. Germany's Federal Criminal Police Office has advised Köhler to take the threat seriously. Köhler told German public broadcaster ARD that she intended to use all legal means to fight the paper's threats. "It can't be that you're threatened in Germany just because you say the truth," she said.
