Two British soldiers are killed in a shooting attack in Northern Ireland

Constanze TressMarch 8, 2009

We begin in Northern Ireland, where security forces have been put on alert after two British soldiers were killed and four people wounded in a shooting attack at an army base. Police said the attackers opened fire from a car as the victims were collecting pizzas from a delivery man at the Massareene Base north of Belfast. No-one has claimed responsibility -- but the attack follows a police warning of an increased threat from Irish nationalists opposed to the peace process.
