The three Israelis were attacked on Friday in their car near the West Bank city of Hebron, one day after Israeli police staged an audacious raid on a nearby hospital that left one Palestinian dead.

Authorities said the gun-wielding assailant fled the scene after killing two of the Israelis and wounding the third. Police were reportedly searching the area for the culprit.

The army described the incident as a "terrorist" attack, according to AFP news agency, which also reported the two killed had been father and son, and the third an unidentified teenager.

Ongoing violence

The murder occurred a day after Israeli authorities in disguise raided a West Bank hospital, killing one Palestinian and arresting another.

The incident sparked outrage among locals, including the hospital's employees. Jihad Shawar, the director of the hospital, called the raid a violation of international law.

At least 14 Israelis and 78 Palestinians have been killed in the ongoing violence sweeping Israel and the Palestinian Territories, which began in mid-September.
