UN Planning Aid For Cyclone Hit Myanmar

06/05/08May 6, 2008

International aid agencies are pushing to gain access to Myanmar in the aftermath of the Cyclone Nargis that left an estimated 22,000 people dead. Hundreds of thousands of people are reportedly left without shelter, food or clean water. Authorities have declared five regions as disaster zones; Yangon, Irrawaddy, Bago, Mon and Kayin. Some of them are still cut off. The UN has said it is prepared to provide 5 million dollars from its own resources for emergency relief.
