Was Kosovo's declaration of independence in line with international law?

The UN's International Court of Justice is due to deliver its verdict later today on whether Kosovo's declaration of independence from Serbia in 2008 was legal. Serbia rejected the breakaway and still considers Kosovo a province. The court's ruling will be non-binding, but there are fears it could exacerbate the already tense situation in the region.
