Welcome to eco@africa

This week's eco@africa is packed full of green stories from Europe and Africa.

First we head to Kenya, where scientists are working to save the northern white rhino with advanced IVF techniques. Meanwhile, there are just three of the subspecies left and they're being guarded closely from poachers. 

Then we head to one of South Africa's wine producing regions. The Cape Floral Kingdom is home to unique plant species but is under threat as vineyards expand. Some wine producers who are trying to protect the area by creating wine that doesn't result in a hangover - for the environment anyway. 

The next stop is Sierra Leone where some people are making cooking pots out of discarded coke cans. Staying on waste, we go to Nigeria, where we look at the success of Wecyclers - an innovative recycling enterprise that has gone from strength to strength recently. 

After that we make a stop in Switzerland where researchers are figuring out how to deal with microplastic pollution in the River Rhine. Last but not least we visit with farmers in Malawi who are trying to cut their dependency on tobacco plants.
