Baselitz: The Africa Collection

K20, Art Collection of North Rhine-Westphalia, Düsseldorf, Germany

Although he is best known for his painting, few are aware of German artist Georg Baselitz's outstanding collection of African art and sculpture. Gathered over 25 years, the collection, on show for the first time at Düsseldorf's K20, at the Kunstsammlung am Grabbeplatz, includes grave posts, soothsayer's baskets and rag dolls. Many of the 130 exhibits hail from east and central Africa.

Through August 24, Tuesday - Friday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Moments of Flight in Paris

Centre Pompidou, Paris, France

French photographer Jacques Henri Lartigue had a talent for capturing life's ephemeral moments with his camera. Now a new exhibition at Paris' Centre Pompidou puts some 100 of the late photographer's albums work on show. The exhibition of photos spans almost the entire 20th century, range from pictures of his family and friends to images of Parisian daily life.

Until September 20, daily 11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., except Tuesdays.

The Swinging Sixties

Palazzo della Ragione, Padova, Italy

The 'Swinging Sixties' brought about a massive sexual revolution and major changes in the art world. Now, the Palazzo della Ragione in Padova has brought together numerous paintings, artists' manifestos and curious design objects from this extraordinarily creative decade for a major new exhibition on art in the 1960s. Works by Mario Schifano, Yves Klein, Christo, George Segal, Roy Lichtenstein and Joseph Kosuth are on show at "The Big Change -- the '60s."

Through October 19, daily 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., except Mondays.

Thomas Ruff

Tate Liverpool, UK

The Liverpool branch of Britain's Tate gallery is currently showing a retrospective of German photographer, Thomas Ruff. Ruff, born in 1958 in Zell am Hammersbach in the Black Forest, is widely regarded as one of the most ground-breaking photographers today. Although he is best known for his portraits, he has experimented with many styles, many of which are dealt with in "Thomas Ruff: Photographs 1979 to Present."

Until July 6, Tuesdays - Sundays 10:00 a.m. - 5.50 p.m.
