Black ice and heavy snowfall caused chaos on the roads in Germany overnight with several accidents reported in the southern region of Bavaria, police said Saturday. An 84-year-old man died after slipping on an icy pavement near Kaufbeuren. Minor accidents were reported on the motorways between Nuremberg and Berlin and Passau on the border with Austria. Two people were killed in a snow storm with high winds which swept across the country on Thursday and Friday. (AFP)
