WM 2010

VideoassistentenJuly 12, 2010

This was the first World Cup to be held in Africa - and there was a lot resting on the shoulders of the host nation. Concerns about security and infra-structure proved to be unfounded. Disappointingly, South Africa did not make it beyond the group stage - but for the country the event was more than just about football. Right from the start, former president Nelson Mandela had said the World Cup could pull the still-divided Rainbow Nation together.. and lay the foundations for a better future. As the World Cup drew to a close on Sunday, team officials and players paid tribute to South Africa for putting on a great tournament. A view shared by many football fans !!
