World in Progress: France & its 'stolen children'

For about two decades well into the early 1980s, the French government took children from its overseas island territory of La Reunion and shipped them off to France. Families were often lured by false promises such as a good education for their children. However, these 'stolen children' often ended up in foster care or as farm workers.
