Dalit priests take charge of government-owned temples

The southern Indian state of Kerala has for the first time allowed Dalit priests to take charge of government-owned temples. This is seen as a progressive step towards eliminating caste discrimination in Hindu religious places, where Brahmins, who are on top of the caste hierarchy, have traditionally held sway. DW correspondent Murali Krishnan met up with a Dalit priest in Kerala.
