Firefighters in Berlin on Tuesday morning rescued around 30 passengers from a local commuter train during a tunnel fire in the midst of rush hour in the central Berlin district of Kreuzberg. The train's driver pulled the train to the closest emergency exit, where the passengers were helped to safety. Three of the passengers were taken to local hospitals for smoke inhalation injuries. The accident led to significant delays on several of the capital's commuter lines. The cause of the fire is still unknown, local public transport authorities said. More than 300 firefighters, 80 police and 60 rescue vehicles were dispatched to the scene.
