Meier: 'I don't know when I'll play again'

Relegation-threatened Eintracht Frankfurt have been without their top goal scorer for almost two months and he won't be returning to action anytime soon. The 33-year-old Alex Meier has no idea when he will be back.

Eintracht Frankfurt striker Alex Meier has been out of action since the end of February and following a knee operation in April, the club's top goal scorer is still not sure of when he will be able to make his return

"I don't know when I will be able to play again and nobody else knows," he told the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" newspaper on Wednesday.

Meier was the Bundesliga's top scorer last season with 19 goals. He his Frankfurt's leading scorer again this season, with 12 goals despite being injured for almost two months. Their next best scorer has just five goals.

"The injury must properly heal," Meier added. "I hope I can start running again soon."

Frankfurt have scored only two goals in the seven Bundesliga games played since Meier's injury. They currently sit 17th in the Bundesliga table, four points behind Werder Bremen in the relegation play-off spot and a further two points adrfit of Stuttgart in 15th.
