Ash Wednesday Traditions

It's Ash Wednesday and Carnival is over – and once again, it’s a day full of local traditions. In the Black Forest region, the revelry has left everyone short of cash, which means it’s time for the traditional washing of the wallets. Other customs include eating dried cod, and the “women’s feast”, or “Weiberzeche”.
