On Sunday, Greeks went to the polls in one of the most critical elections in decades. Many voters vowed to reject mainstream party politics, with fringe parties gaining ground on an anti-austerity agenda.

The outcome of the election could affect the future of the EU and the eurozone. Both main political parties in Greece support the program of painful cuts that the country is implementing in return for a 130-billion-euro bailout from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund. But many smaller, more radical parties, are against such austerity measures.
