Managing Director, Savings Banks Foundation for International Cooperation, Bonn, Germany
Niclaus Bergmann is the managing director of the Savings Banks Foundation for International Cooperation (SBFIC) in Bonn, Germany. SBFIC is the non-profit international consulting arm of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe (Savings Banks Finance Group), the largest banking group in Germany with 15,000 branches and more than 350,000 staff.
Bergmann holds a Master's degree from Göttingen University. He started his banking career with Sparkasse Norden savings bank, mainly focusing on SME financing. In 1993 he joined SBFIC as senior consultant and project manager. After managing projects in Central and Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa, he became managing director of SBFIC in November 2008. Bergmann is also speaker of the steering group of the Microfinance Platform Germany.
