Every year, millions of tourists come to get a taste of Berlin - and it can be especially sweet during the holidays. Just strolling down the lighted boulevards has a special charm during the Christmas season.

In addition to boasting one of Europe's largest department stores - the KaDaWe - Berlin also has plenty of cultural highlights on offer, such as Museum Island.

The Museum Island in home to five different institutions, and it's most beautiful resident is no doubt Queen Nefertiti, on view in the New Museum. Outside you can shop at art and flea markets for just the right holiday gift.

Attending a concert in the Berlin Cathedral is also a must. At the Friedrichstadtpalast musical theater, there's always a good show on, and a night tour of the city is a romantic highlight during a holiday visit to Berlin.
