When it comes to film history, Berlin is no dilettante. It was home of the prolific UFA studios, which churned out classics from Billy Wilder and Fritz Lang and served as the springboard from which Marlene Dietrich made her Hollywood leap. Lately it's been restoring its silver screen legacy as the filming site of major blockbuster films like "The Bourne Supremacy" and "The Pianist" and the A-list Berlin International Film Festival. Now, taking a chapter from Hollywood, the city is now planning its own "Boulevard of Stars," which will honor German legends of screen and television including Dietrich, talk show host Thomas Gottschalk and others. The project, led by the Berlin Film Museum, is aimed at honoring personalities who have promoted the image of German television and film.
