Berlin tiger cub Alisha finds new home in Eberswalde

After coming into the world at Berliner Tierpark on December 10 last year, Alisha was left in crisis after her mother Aurora was unable to produce enough milk. The three-month-old was instead reared by bottle.
Awaiting the 10-kilo cub in Eberswalde, in the eastern German state of Brandenburg, is five-month-old playmate Dragan who also faced the same dilemma following his birth on October 7, 2014.
The tiger cubs will spend their first two nights sleeping in separate compartments, before being slowly introduced to each other under supervision.
Visitors to Eberswalde Zoo will be able to see the cubs together for the first time from Wednesday.
The most recent animal expat from Germany's capital was baby orangutan Rieke who relocated last month from Berlin Zoo to Monkey World in the UK - the world's largest Rescue Centre for great apes.
According to the World Wildlife Association, the Amur tiger population currently stands at a mere 400 worldwide.
