An eyewitness at the scene told CNN Turk on Tuesday morning than an apparent blast from a car in a parking lot had smashed windows and left people bloodied. Reporters on the scene described the scene littered with car parts.

Antalya is a major tourist resort on Turkey's Mediterranean coast. In August, two rockets hit a commercial facility near a provincial resort town, but caused no casualties.

City mayor Menderes Turel told private broadcaster NTV that "10 to 12 people were slightly injured by flying glass" in the explosion at the Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry building. He said it was too early to say whether the blast was a bomb or some sort of accident.

Routine 'media blackout'

As has become increasingly common in Turkey, authorities moved to impose a temporary media blackout on the incident, citing public safety concerns and preserving the integrity of the investigation.

Over the past year, Turkey has been hit by an increasing wave of attacks - including suicide bombings - by Islamist militants and Kurdish insurgents as the country struggles with threats from extremists from the self-styled "Islamic State" as well as a widening Kurdish insurgency in the southeast.
