Brazilian indigenous people

A delegation of indigenous people from Brazil is in Berlin to take part in events for Humboldt's 250th birthday. They're also using their visit to draw attention to their threatened way of life back home.

One of the pioneers in exploration of the natural world was German scientist Alexander von Humboldt, who travelled extensively in South America. As part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of his birth, a delegation of indigenous people from Brazil have been invited to Berlin to take part in commemoration events.
