Shots fired at tourist bus in France

Two rounds of gunfire have hit a tourist bus in southeastern France, injuring six passengers. Police are hunting for the perpetrator and say there’s no sign the shooting was a targeted attack.

The bus was carrying 75 Czech tourists returning home from a holiday in Spain when it came under fire on a highway in the southeastern Drôme region, the prosecutor of Valence said Sunday.

Prosecutor Alex Perrin told French broadcaster BFM-TV that six of the passengers, including school children on a class trip, were injured after being hit by shattered glass.

"Five people suffered light injuries, while the sixth was more serious," he said.

Authorities have made no arrests or put forward a possible motive for the shooting.

"One could think that this bus ... was no more a target than any other," Perrin said.

Initial investigations revealed the shots were fired from a hunting rifle.
