Camilo Ibarra, Amanda

Coordinator "Movimiento Ruta Pacifica de las Mujeres" Colombia

Amanda Camilo is Afro-Colombian. She is a primary school teacher, specialized in administration and environmental education. She has been heading the Putumayo section of the movement Movimiento Ruta Pacifica de las Mujeres as coordinator since 1997, under the motto: "Women don't bear children for the war". With her movement, she has helped to make the violence against women in Colombia visible, advancing the political dialogue about conflict in this country. She considers herself a defender and teacher of human rights, a feminist, pacifist and non-violent, anti-militarist by conviction. From the southern border of Colombia, she organizes women to raise their voice, saying that they want to live in a region, country and planet without violence and fear.
