A cargo train has set off on a maiden journey from China to Germany, and is expected to make the 9,814-kilometer trip in 18 days, the Chinese news agency Xinhau reported on Wednesday. The train, hauling 100 containers, will run twice a month between Hohhot, the capital of northern inner Mongolia, and Frankfurt. The route will take the train, which has an annual freight capacity of 50,000 tons, though six countries -- China, Mongolia, Russia, Belarus, Poland and Germany.
