Feichtner wanted his Tram Chair to represent certain design traditions. So he started working with the Czech firm TON which has been making furniture for more than 150 years. TON specializes in the manufacture of "bent wood" furniture. The wood is steamed or soaked, and then bent into curved shapes and patterns.
