Children of War: Life after Aleppo

According to statistics from the United Nations, 1.5 million Syrians have been handicapped due to the war in their homeland. More than 80,000 of these had to have limb amputations, and many of these, like 10-year-old Majida, are children.

Majida Al-Omar is the victim of a war she doesn’t even understand. She lost her right leg during an air strike in east Aleppo. The memories still haunt the ten year old to this day. With the aid of a prosthetic leg and lots of practice, Majida learned to walk again. The family has since moved to Gaziantep in southeast Turkey, near the Syrian border.
