German debate on fracking is heating up

In the US, shale gas production has risen rapidly. In Germany, shale gas production remains controversial. Some say the technology is too risky and harmful to the environment. Others maintain that it could help Germany become less dependent on natural gas imports. The German government is set to propose new regulations on shale gas fracking. Whatever the outcome, it’s sure to prove controversial.
