Cybersecurity and Human Rights: How can we protect the internet?

Cybersecurity is commonly treated as a national security issue with the nation state considered to be the main actor. However, there have been increasing calls for a multi-stakeholder approach. Has this concept been applied successfully or has it just served as a lip service? How can we ensure that cyber security policies respect and support the right to privacy and the right to freedom in the digital sphere?

Leading experts from government, civil society, private sector, academia and development cooperation will discuss strategies for a human rights based approach to global cyber security. Do we need to shift from a state-centric to a people-centric approach? What role can development cooperation play to safeguard access to a safe, free and open internet in the Global South? How can we put users first?
