Discover Canada on a canoe

Canada is a country in North America. It extends from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean.




I cannot possibly tell you about what to see in Canada, it is too vast and varied. What I can tell you about is the area in which I live. The City of Kingston (Ontario) is at the point where the Great Lakes empty their water into the St. Lawrence River. The River then continues to the Atlantic. The area is a well-known tourist area for the Thousand Islands in the St. Lawrence River, but I will not show you that but instead show you what most tourists never usually see from the lakes and streams within 30 kilometres north of Kingston.

It is best to travel by kayak or canoe along it streams and lakes. There are all sorts of birds, all sorts of wild flowers along the shore line even wild grapes. You can look up to the tops of trees for nesting osprey or see an owl watching you.

Autumn comes and paints the trees and shoreline. You can only marvel at its beauty. You know the frost will soon come when most of the leaves have fallen and you see mist rising from the streams. Then one day you wake up to a window crystallized by frost and you can see that plants are full of frost but the seeds are waiting for spring to come again. While they wait you can marvel in the beauty and joy of winter when the snow sparkles like diamonds in the forest.

I hope you are able to feel what it is like to live in this little corner of Canada.
