The DVD boom is losing steam in Germany too. In the first half of 2005, turnover had slipped by 17 percent to 44 million DVDs sold. As against that, a year ago DVD sales had registered a plus of more than 57 percent, according to figures released by the GfK market research group. The statistics showed that video cassettes too continued to lose relevance with the number of sold video cassettes this year reduced by 50 percent to some 3 million.
