Marie-Christine Saragosse: “I am very pleased with the success of our project ‘InfoMigrants’ and the new opportunities for collaboration between France Médias Monde and Deutsche Welle. In a world, where the battle of ideas is raging, it is more than ever a necessitiy for us as French and German international public broadcasters to promote European values together.“

Peter Limbourg: “The role of international broadcasters in the European arena is gaining importance in the context of the crisis we are facing. I am confident that together we can make a significant contribution to the much needed dissemination of objective information about Europe.”

InfoMigrants Latein

In March 2017, the two international broadcasters launched the very successful editorial internet and Social Media project “InfoMigrants,“ which is aimed at informing people in countries of origin as well as refugees who have arrived in Europe. The European Commission has now guaranteed the financial support of this journalistic joint venture between France Médias Monde and Deutsche Welle, which partners with the Italian news agency ANSA, for another year.

So far, InfoMigrants offers information in French, English and Arabic. The usage has increased steadily since the launch.

With continuing to finance the joint project, the European Commission wants to enable Deutsche Welle and France Médias Monde to continue providing objective information about the risks of a flight as well as the conditions for refugees in Europe to more people in the countries of origin as well as to those who have arrived in Europe.

The two international broadcasters have agreed to add another language service to their joint project, which will be launched in early 2018. A working group will evaluate which language would the best addition in relation to target audiences. The new language service will be primarily distributed via social media.
