Outdoor Chic
These days, functional clothing and high fashion are no longer worlds apart. More and more, designers are taking their cue from outdoor wear, and pairing utility with luxury. It's a trend that's making its mark on collections from small labels to big-name brands alike. And it's proven especially popular in men's collections.

Hot Heels
Christian Louboutin launched his label in 1991 with the aim of creating shoes “like jewels.” With their trademark shiny red soles, his designs today are a must-have for well-heeled fashionistas around the globe. A new exhibition at London’s Design Museum looks back his 20 year career that showcases artistry and theatricality of his designs -- from stilettos and lace-up boots to studded sneakers and jewel-encrusted pumps.

Paper Cars
The British artist Chris Gilmour replicates cars, mopeds and bicycles as painstakingly detailed cardboard sculptures. His works are life-sized, and forego the use of any supporting frames, wood or metal.

Clothes Make the Man
Herlinde Koelbl is one of Germany’s most successful photographers. For her new exhibition at the German Hygiene Museum in Dresden, she photographed 70 people – once in their uniforms, and once in their casual clothes. The result raises many questions about the way clothes can change our perception of people.

Berlin Gallery Weekend
Berlin welcomed thousands of art lovers to its Gallery Weekend in 2012. A total of 51 galleries took part in the event, attracting more artists and visitors than ever before. A new feature of the event this year was a virtual tour.
