Henning Mankell
Henning Mankell's crime novels featuring Swedish detective Kurt Wallander have been translated into more than 40 languages. Now Mankell is celebrating his 65th birthday and we paid him a visit in Antibes on the French Riviera.

The Balloon Festival in Chateau-d'Oex
The 35th International Balloon Festival is currently underway in the Swiss Alpine resort of Chateau-d'Oex. The annual event is attended by about 100 hot air balloon fans from 20 different countries.

Hahnenkamm Races in Austria
This is a top society event in the Austrian alpine report of Kitzbühel. It attracts an average of ninety thousand spectators including many celebrities.

Pastry Chef Thomas Gläser
Thomas Gläser has been at the Facil restaurant in Berlin’s Mandala hotel since 2003. He has now been named Pastry Chef of the Year by a food guide.

The Christmas Trade Fair in Frankfurt
Christmasworld is the largest trade fair for Christmas articles in the world. Last year it attracted more than 31,000 visitors and was attended by some 900 exhibitors.
