2013 DW euromaxx highlights

The British Sculptor Antony Gormley
On October 16 Antony Gormley received the Prämium Imperiale for sculpture in Tokyo. The award is seen as the Nobel Prize of the art world. The British artist is known for his focus on the human body and experimenting with different materials such as steel.

The Success of Scandinavian Crime Writers
We meet Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen at the Frankfurt Book Fair whose crime-series books featuring Detective Carl Mørck are international bestsellers. And we find out why so many Scandinavian authors are so successful in the crime genre.

The Documentary Film “The Highest Level”
A music documentary co-produced by DW called “The Highest Level” premiered in Berlin. It features the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra with conductor Sir Simon Rattle and Chinese superstar pianist Lang Lang who all teamed up to record music by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev and Hungarian composer Béla Bartók. We report from the premiere in Berlin.

The Profile of a Project Artist
We meet Austrian artist Teresa Mar who is one of the people contributing to this year’s Festival of Lights in the German capital. Her project goes by the name of Prisma.

The Glacier Guide
Heidi Zimmermann is Norway's only certified female glacier guide. She's a native of Switzerland and loves the mountains, but glaciers are her specialty -- especially the Jostedal glacier. It's the largest on mainland Europe, and Heidi takes thousands of visitors on to the ice every year. Euromaxx joins her on a tour.
