The European Union has broken off talks with Croatia concerning the latter's accession to the organisation. The main point of contention is an ongoing border row with its neighbour and EU member Slovenia. The dispute goes back to the collapse of Yugoslavia in 1991 and the lack of a permanent agreement defining the territorial waters of the two new republics. With no compromise in sight, the date for Croatia's potential accession to the EU has once more been postponed - much to its disappointment.wf
