The recent murders of journalist Anastasia Baburova and human rights lawyer Stanislav Markelov sent shockwaves through Moscow. Markelov had represented Anna Politkovskaya, the reporter who was gunned down in Moscow in 2006, and was also a journalist who wrote investigative articles on Chechnya.
