German leaders get set to relaunch talks to secure the future of car maker Opel and tens of thousands of jobs

BRIAN: Negotiations are set to continue today on the future of GM's European subsidiary Opel - with the German government pushing for a new owner that will promise to keep the plants here open. If there is no acceptable offer - Berlin has made clear that it is prepared to accept Opel's insolvency. +++ PETER: At stake are thousands of jobs in Germany - and elsewhere in Europe. General Motors itself could file for bankruptcy protection today.
