Germans Plan on Saving Less

Germans intend to save less money this year than in previous years, a study by the Nuremburg Society for Consumer Research published on Monday found. Just over 30 percent of German households said they planned to reduce the amount of money they save on a monthly basis this year, while only 5 percent said they intended to increase that amount. Attitudes toward saving depend largely on individual financial situations, the researchers said, adding that 41 percent of households with a net income of less than 1,000 euros would be saving less than they did in the past. For households with an income of 3,000 euros and more, only 18 percent said they also planned to save less.
