Italy 1 - 1 Germany

Dave RaishNovember 15, 2013

Coach Joachim Löw celebrated his 100th match in charge as Germany took on Italy in Milan. It may have been just a friendly, but the Germans were looking to avenge their Euro 2012 semifinal defeat.

FULL TIME:

Italy 1 (Abate 28') - Germany 1 (Hummels 8')

Captain Philipp Lahm started in midfield for Germany for Friday's match at the San Siro, while Löw elected to go with Mario Gözte up front in the absence of injured Lazio striker Miroslav Klose.

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Özil failed to recover from a viral infection in time to play, while fans were disappointed by the news earlier today that midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger would be out until January after undergoing a second ankle surgery.

Established first choice keeper Manuel Neuer once again started in goal for Germany, but Borussia Dortmund's Roman Weidenfeller was sitting on the national team bench for the first time in his career.
