Germany surged to the final round of the 6th Handball European Championships in Slovenia when they defeated Denmark 22:20 on Saturday. The nailbiting match was played out in front of a 6,500-strong cheering crowd in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana. The Germans will now play against host Slovenia in the finals on Sunday. Ulrich Strombach, President of the German Handball Association said the Germans stood a good chance of clinching the title. "This team can become European winners. I expect that now," he said.
