Defense Minister Peter Struck plans to request Germany's parliament to approve sending troops to support the African Union (AU) in Sudan. "A danger for German soldiers cannot be ruled out," Struck told German news agency DPA on Thursday in Berlin. In response to an AU request for aid from the EU, Germany is prepared to offer help in transportation, Struck said. Initially, the Germany armed forces would transport soldiers from Tanzania to the crisis region Darfur. The mission would begin before the end of the year, according to Struck.
