Green Paradise in No Man’s Land

The border between North and South Korea is a no man’s land – just like the old Inner German border. Although it’s a terrible place for humans, it’s turned out to be something of a natural paradise.

Flora and fauna have been able to flourish between the walls and fences. Global 3000 traveled to the demilitarized zone of South Korea, where for example rare cranes live in ecologically intact sanctuaries. The magazine profiles those working to ensure that this unlikely haven has a future.

DRC: Plastic waste in Kinshasa's river

The Congo River is vital for the survival of people in DRC's capital Kinshasa. But the river and its tributaries are drowning in pollution. Plastic bottles line the banks and float in the water. So environmentalist Alain Sebela founded an organization to fight pollution.
