Hamilton wins in Hungary

Britain's Hamilton, who started from pole, completed the race on the Hungaroring in 1 hour, 41 minutes, 5.503 seconds, more than a second faster than Raikonnen. It was Hamilton's third win in Hungary and McLaren's sixth win in eight years.

"Really fantastic," Hamilton said over the team radio after the race. "Let's try to keep this up."

Hamilton got off to a clean start from pole position and apart from pit stops kept the lead throughout the race.

Long faces in Germany

Red Bull driver Vettel, who came fourth, told reporters he was not disappointed, "but clearly not exactly thrilled."

"We sit in the car for an hour and a half, it's ridiculously hot and when you're stuck in traffic, it's annoying, but, after all, you can't just fly over it," he added, saying that he needed to improve in all areas and be more consistent.

Vettel is still waiting for his second title in the season - last week, he was given a penalty in Hockenheim, which saw him demoted from second to fifth place.

Seven-time champion Michael Schumacher, who was only 17th on the grid, had a dismal race. He suffered a technical problem after the warm-up lap and had to start the race from the pits. To compound his problems, he was almost immediately given a drive-through penalty for speeding in the pits.

"The whole weekend it was obvious that we weren't competitive," the 43-year-old said after the race. "Some races you just have to accept for what they are." 

The Hungarian Grand Prix was the last race before the summer break. The Belgian Grand Prix is next on the racing schedule, on September 2.
