How James Bond is writing film history

Agent 007 is on a highly successful mission indeed. The new James Bond film "Spectre" with Daniel Craig as the handsome agent is about to become the most successful movie in film history.
In the UK, home to super-agent Bond, "Spectre" took in an estimated 58.5 million euros ($64.2 million) in the first seven days. With "just" 33.48 million euros, British front-runner "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" has dropped to second place.
The 24th Bond adventure is the successful continuation of the film series about the British agent. The previous Bond movie, "Skyfall," also directed by Sam Mendes, was a box office hit, too, but "Spectre" opened a new chapter in UK film history: 647 movie theaters showed the film on an unheard of 2,500 screens.
Box office hit in Europe
Apart from the UK, the new Bond started showing in five other countries after the glamorous premiere in London - with spectacular showings in The Netherlands and Scandinavia, too.
Ahead of its release in the US on Friday, Spectre has already taken in more than $80.4 million in the first week alone. In Germany, the fans are waiting in the wings, too: Here the thriller starts on Thursday - and some cinemas are already booked out until Christmas.
