ICC to review Kenya's lack of cooperation in Kenyatta's case

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have been accused of committing crimes against humanity after disputed 2007 elections. Over 1,000 people had died in the riots that erupted after the vote.

In December last year, the International Criminal Court's (ICC) chief prosecutor Fatou Bensouda dropped her case against Kenyatta, accusing that the Kenyan authorities were obstructing her investigation.

The judges in the case refused to accept Bensouda's request to report the case to the ICC's Assembly of States Parties to review Kenya's lack of cooperation.

On Wednesday, the ICC's presiding judge, Silvia Fernandez de Gurmendi, said the trial judges had not considered some important aspects of Bensouda's non-cooperation complaint. The appeals judges ordered them to review their decision.
