Despite COVID-19, EU leaders plan to soon vote on whether to open membership negotiations to Albania and North Macedonia, which have been both recommended and rejected numerous times. Teri Schultz went to Tirana to see if Albanians are holding their breath this time.

In February, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia became North Macedonia, ending a decades-long dispute with neighbouring Greece. Citizens of the rebranded country hoped that membership of NATO and talks to join the EU would follow. They were also looking for wide-ranging reforms to reduce corruption and improve prosperity.
