Temperatures in parts of Russia are still below freezing but this week, the country is celebrating the start of spring, with the traditional folk festival of Maslenitsa. The seven-day holiday is one of the country's best loved festivals, ending with the burning of a straw scarecrow as a symbol of sweeping away grudges.
